At ERKE, we pride ourselves on pushing the boundaries of sustainable design and innovation. Our latest triumph, the Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital, is a shining example of these principles in action. As the only fully equipped LEED Platinum Certified Hospital in the world, this project is an important achievement in the realm of healthcare facilities. With our comprehensive consultancy services, we ensured that this state-of-the-art hospital not only meets but exceeds the highest standards of environmental performance and energy efficiency.
Our involvement in the Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital project was multifaceted and meticulous. From the outset, our LEED Certification Consultancy guided the project through every phase of the certification process. This involved a strategic approach to meeting all LEED criteria, ensuring the hospital's design and construction adhered to the most rigorous sustainability standards.
A cornerstone of our consultancy was Energy Modeling, which played a critical role in optimizing the hospital's energy performance. By using advanced simulations, we were able to pinpoint areas for energy reduction and implement cutting-edge technologies that significantly decreased the hospital's energy consumption. This proactive approach not only reduced operating costs but also minimized the environmental footprint of the facility.
Incorporating natural elements into the hospital's design was another priority. Through our Daylight Simulation services, we maximized the use of natural light within the building, creating a more pleasant and healing environment for patients and staff. Additionally, our Natural Ventilation Analysis ensured that the hospital maintained optimal air quality and efficient airflow, contributing to a healthier indoor environment.
The Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital excelled in the Sustainable Sites category, earning 13 out of 18 points. This success was driven by our commitment to enhancing the site's environmental performance. Key initiatives included maximizing alternative transportation options such as public transportation access, bicycle storage, and parking for low-emitting vehicles. Furthermore, the project emphasized site development practices that protected or restored habitats, maximized open space, and implemented robust stormwater management systems.
Water conservation was a top priority for the Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital, which achieved 8 out of 9 points in the Water Efficiency category. By integrating efficient landscaping practices and advanced building equipment like cooling towers and food waste systems, we significantly reduced water usage throughout the facility. These measures not only conserved a vital resource but also set a new benchmark for water management in healthcare settings.
The hospital's energy performance was a standout feature, earning 29 out of 39 points in the Energy & Atmosphere category. This achievement was made possible by our thorough approach to energy optimization. Full points were awarded for our energy-saving technologies and strategies, enhanced commissioning processes, and the use of environmentally friendly refrigerants. These efforts underscored the project's dedication to sustainability and energy efficiency.
Our focus on EPD Certification, sustainable materials and resource management was evident in the Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital's performance in the Materials & Resources category, where it earned 8 out of 16 points. We prioritized the efficient management of construction waste and the use of sustainably sourced materials. Additionally, the design incorporated elements that promoted flexibility and reduced the use of harmful chemicals, further enhancing the hospital's sustainability profile.
Creating a healthy and comfortable indoor environment was paramount in our design strategy, earning the project 15 out of 18 points in the Indoor Environmental Quality category. By maximizing natural light, providing extensive views, and using low-emitting materials, we ensured a high-quality indoor environment. Advanced ventilation and air quality management systems also played a crucial role in maintaining a healthy atmosphere within the hospital.
Innovation was at the heart of our approach, earning the hospital full points for innovation and regional priority. We implemented an integrated project planning and design approach, fostering collaboration and holistic thinking among all stakeholders. By addressing specific regional environmental priorities, we further enhanced the project's sustainability, ensuring it met the highest standards possible.
The Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital is more than just a hospital; it is a testament to what can be achieved through a dedicated focus on sustainability and innovation. At ERKE, we are proud to have played a key role in this groundbreaking project. Our comprehensive consultancy services ensured that the hospital not only met but exceeded the stringent requirements for LEED Platinum certification, ultimately creating a healthier, more sustainable environment for all.
