 As ERKE, we provided LEED consultancy services for the Hilton Garden Inn Istanbul Golden Horn project, aiming to optimize the building's environmental performance and create a sustainable structure. As a result of these efforts, the project was awarded the LEED BD+C: New Construction (v2009) Gold Certification in May 2012. With a total of 65 points, this project represents a significant achievement in sustainable design and environmental management.

The project implemented numerous strategies to meet its sustainability goals. Scoring 22 out of 26 points in the Sustainable Sites category demonstrated the effective application of strategies such as access to public transportation, infrastructure for low-emission vehicles, and habitat preservation. Additionally, it earned 8 out of 10 points in the Water Efficiency category, emphasizing the efficient use of water resources.

Highlighted LEED Strategies

A closer look at the project’s LEED scorecard reveals the key strategies that contributed to its success:

Sustainable Site Utilization:
The project stands out for its proximity to public transportation and the high level of development in the surrounding area. These attributes led to full points in the Development Density and Community Connectivity credits.

Alternative Transportation Solutions:
The project earned high scores in the Alternative Transportation credits by implementing features such as bicycle parking, dedicated parking spaces for low-emission vehicles, and limitations on parking capacity.

Energy Efficiency:
Although the project scored 6 out of 19 points in the Optimize Energy Performance category, significant steps were taken to enhance energy performance. Additionally, energy consumption is continuously monitored through measurement and verification systems.

Water Efficiency and Management:
The project showed a strong commitment to reducing water consumption, earning full points in Innovative Wastewater Technologies and Water Use Reduction credits.

Indoor Environmental Quality:
Focusing on occupant comfort, the project prioritized strategies such as low-emission materials, thermal comfort design, and access to daylight. It scored 12 out of 15 points in this category.
