A Model Project in Sustainability with ERKE’s LEED Consultancy

The THY CFB Building, designed in line with environmental sustainability goals in Istanbul, was awarded LEED BD+C: Warehouses and Distribution Centers Certified Certification in 2021. Through ERKE’s guidance, the project achieved significant progress in energy efficiency, water management, and sustainable material use, contributing to the creation of an eco-friendly facility. With 40 points, the building highlights the importance of environmental responsibility.

Energy and Water Management: Efficient Solutions

The project earned 9/53 points in the Energy and Atmosphere category, successfully meeting its energy efficiency goals:

• Optimization of Energy Performance (9/18): Optimized systems were implemented to reduce energy consumption.
• Regional Priority Credits: Additional credit points were achieved by addressing regional energy performance priorities.

In the Water Efficiency category, the project earned 5/11 points, providing effective solutions for water conservation:

• Outdoor Water Use (2/2): Innovative technologies were applied to reduce irrigation water consumption.
• Indoor Water Use (3/6): Water-efficient fixtures were installed to ensure water savings.

 Materials and Indoor Quality: User-Friendly Approach

The Materials and Resources category earned 5/13 points, demonstrating the focus on sustainable material use and waste management:

• Construction Waste Management (2/2): Effective management and recycling of construction waste were implemented.
• Environmental Product Declaration (1/2): Materials were assessed for their environmental impacts.

In the Indoor Environmental Quality category, 2/16 points were earned, reflecting a commitment to occupant health and comfort:

• Construction Indoor Air Quality Management (1/1): Measures were taken to maintain air quality during construction.
• Thermal Comfort (1/1): Climate control solutions ensured thermal balance in the working environment.

Conclusion: An Eco-Friendly Cargo Hub
