The THY GSE Repair and Maintenance Facility, designed in line with environmental sustainability goals in Istanbul, was awarded LEED BD+C: New Construction Certified Certification in 2021. Through ERKE’s consultancy, the project focused on energy efficiency, water conservation, and indoor environmental quality, contributing to the creation of an environmentally friendly structure. Earning 41 points, the facility demonstrates a remarkable achievement in sustainable design.

 Sustainability Through Energy and Water Efficiency

The Energy and Atmosphere category earned the project 10/53 points, reflecting significant energy management solutions:

  • Optimization of Energy Performance (9/18): The facility was designed with efficient systems to reduce energy consumption.
  • Enhanced Refrigerant Management (1/1): Eco-friendly refrigerants were chosen to minimize carbon emissions.

In the Water Efficiency category, the project achieved 6/11 points, showcasing innovative water management approaches:

  • Indoor Water Use (5/6): Water consumption was minimized through efficient fixtures.
  • Outdoor Water Use (1/2): Solutions were implemented to reduce irrigation water demand.

Notable Strategies in Material Use and Indoor Environmental Quality
