Sustainable Automotive Facility Design
At ERKE Design, we provided consultancy services for the LEED BD+C: New Construction (v2009) certification of the Borusan Oto Samandıra project. Completed at the Gold level in November 2018, the project stands out as an exemplary achievement of sustainability goals in the automotive sector.
Achievements of the Project
Sustainable Site Utilization
The project earned 15 out of 26 points by implementing solutions such as access to public transportation, parking for low-emission vehicles, and bicycle parking facilities. These measures aimed to reduce the carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly transportation options.
Water Efficiency
By utilizing innovative wastewater management systems and efficient irrigation solutions, the project achieved 8 out of 10 points in the water efficiency category. These strategies increased water conservation and reduced operational costs.
Energy Performance
The project earned 12 out of 35 points in the energy and atmosphere category through energy-saving solutions that prioritized efficiency. Advanced energy management systems helped optimize energy consumption.
Materials and Resource Management
The project achieved 6 out of 14 points in this category by combining the use of recycled and locally sourced materials with effective construction waste management. This contributed to transforming the facility into an environmentally friendly operation.
Indoor Environmental Quality
Scoring 10 out of 15 points, the project implemented low-emission materials, thermal comfort solutions, and lighting control systems, creating a healthy and comfortable environment for employees.
Innovation and Regional Priority Credits
The project earned full points, 6 out of 6, in the innovation category and 3 out of 4 points in regional priority credits. These achievements highlight the project’s innovative approach and its alignment with the needs of the region.
