Through the LEED consultancy provided by ERKE, Torium Shopping Mall successfully achieved LEED BD+C: Core and Shell (v2009) Gold Certification. This accomplishment, attained in June 2011, serves as an exemplary case of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency in shopping malls.

Scoring a total of 60 points, Torium Shopping Mall stands out for its strong performance in the Water Efficiency, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Energy & Atmosphere categories. The project elevated sustainable architecture with innovative solutions that reduce environmental impacts and enhance user comfort.

Key Achievements in LEED Categories

1. Water Efficiency

Torium Shopping Mall achieved full points in the Water Efficiency category by implementing systems that minimize water consumption. The project earned 10/10 points, with full scores in Water Efficient Landscaping, Innovative Wastewater Technologies, and Water Use Reduction credits. This achievement highlights the mall’s strong commitment to water conservation.

2. Energy and Atmosphere

The project prioritized energy performance optimization. Scoring 12 out of 21 points in the Optimize Energy Performance credit, it demonstrated significant reductions in energy consumption. Continuous monitoring through energy metering and verification systems further enhanced the efficiency of energy management. A total of 18/37 points was achieved in this category.

3. Indoor Environmental Quality

By focusing on health and comfort, the project scored 8 out of 12 points in the Indoor Environmental Quality category. Low-emission materials and advanced indoor air quality management created a comfortable environment within the shopping mall. Full points were achieved in credits such as Construction IAQ Management Plan and Low-Emitting Materials, reflecting the successful implementation of these strategies.

4. Sustainable Site Management

The mall’s proximity to public transportation and infrastructure supporting low-emission vehicles earned high points in the Alternative Transportation credits. Full points in the Public Transportation Access credit significantly contributed to the project’s environmental sustainability.
