The Green Express Building, designed in line with environmental sustainability goals, was awarded LEED BD+C: New Construction Gold Certification in 2012. ERKE provided expert guidance in energy and water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and eco-friendly transportation solutions, contributing to this remarkable achievement. With a total of 65 points, the facility stands as a leading example of an environmentally conscious hotel.

Environmental Sustainability Through Energy and Water Efficiency

In the Energy and Atmosphere category, the project earned 11/35 points, showcasing the impact of innovative energy management systems:

  • Optimization of Energy Performance (6/19): Systems were implemented to reduce energy consumption effectively.
  • Advanced Refrigerant Management and Energy Monitoring (5/5): Eco-friendly refrigerant systems and advanced measurement technologies were integrated.

The Water Efficiency category earned 8/10 points, demonstrating effective water conservation strategies:

  • Water-Efficient Landscaping (2/4): Irrigation systems were optimized to reduce water usage.
  • Wastewater Technologies (2/2): Systems enabling wastewater reuse were applied.
  • Reduction of Water Use (4/4): Efficient fixtures optimized indoor water consumption.

Sustainable Transportation and Indoor Environmental Quality

The Sustainable Sites category earned 22/26 points, reflecting investments in eco-friendly transportation solutions:

  • Access to Public Transportation (6/6): The building’s central location encouraged the use of public transit.
  • Bicycle-Friendly Solutions (1/1): Bicycle parking spaces and supporting infrastructure were provided.
  • Low-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure (3/3): Dedicated parking spaces were created for electric and low-emission vehicles.

In the Indoor Environmental Quality category, the project earned 12/15 points, prioritizing occupant health and comfort:

  • Low-Emitting Materials (4/4): Environmentally friendly paints, adhesives, and coatings were used.
  • Thermal Comfort and Natural Light (3/3): Advanced climate control systems and natural light access enhanced user comfort.
