A Model of Sustainability in Textile Manufacturing
At ERKE Design, we provided consultancy services for the Ajara Textile Poti project under the LEED BD+C: New Construction (v4) certification system. Completed in August 2018 at the Certified level, this project stands as a successful example of achieving environmental sustainability goals in the textile sector.
Achievements of the Project:
Sustainable Site Management:
The project earned 3 out of 10 points in the sustainable site category by implementing measures to reduce the heat island effect and protect open spaces. These efforts contributed to minimizing environmental impacts.
Water Efficiency:
With solutions for indoor and outdoor water savings, the project achieved 9 out of 11 points in the water efficiency category. These measures helped conserve natural resources and reduce operational costs.
Energy Performance:
The project scored 12 out of 53 points in the energy performance category, significantly reducing energy consumption through optimized energy performance strategies.
Materials and Resources Management:
By effectively managing construction waste, the project earned 2 out of 13 points in the materials and resources category, adding value through recycling and the use of sustainable materials.
Indoor Environmental Quality:
The project achieved 3 out of 16 points in indoor environmental quality by improving indoor air quality and implementing lighting solutions, prioritizing the comfort and health of employees.
Innovation and Regional Priority Credits:
The project earned 5 out of 6 points in the innovation category and 1 out of 4 points in regional priority credits, showcasing its innovative solutions and alignment with local sustainability needs.
