A New Era in Sustainable Manufacturing Facilities
At ERKE Design, we provided consultancy services for the LEED O+M: Existing Buildings (v4.1) certification of the Baymak Makine Sanayi project. Completed at the Gold level in April 2023, this project serves as a successful example of achieving sustainability goals in manufacturing facilities.
Achievements of the Project
Sustainable Site Management
The project earned 2 out of 4 points in site management by implementing solutions such as stormwater management and heat island effect reduction. Measures to minimize light pollution further reduced environmental impacts.
Water Efficiency
Through advanced water management systems and innovative solutions to reduce water consumption, the project achieved 8 out of 15 points in the water efficiency category. This provided both environmental benefits and economic advantages.
Energy Performance
The project scored 21 out of 35 points in the energy performance category by optimizing energy consumption. This achievement was made possible through the integration of energy-efficient systems and advanced energy management strategies.
Materials and Resource Management
The project earned 5 out of 9 points in materials and resource management by adopting waste management and recycling-focused solutions. This result reflects the implementation of eco-friendly supply chain practices.
Indoor Environmental Quality
Scoring 17 out of 22 points, the project prioritized improving indoor air quality and implementing green cleaning practices, ensuring a healthy working environment for employees.
Innovation and Transportation
The project earned full points in the innovation category (1/1) and 13 out of 14 points in the transportation category. Eco-friendly transportation options were supported for employees.
