A New Standard for Sustainable Manufacturing Facilities
At ERKE Design, we provided consultancy services for the LEED BD+C: New Construction (v2009) certification of the EAE Busbar Factory in Dilovası. Completed at the Gold level in September 2020, this project stands as a significant example of prioritizing environmental sensitivity in the design of sustainable manufacturing facilities.
Achievements of the Project
Sustainable Site Utilization
The project earned 22 out of 26 points by incorporating solutions such as access to public transportation, parking for low-emission vehicles, and bicycle parking. These measures minimized environmental impact while providing eco-friendly transportation options for employees.
Water Efficiency
The project achieved 8 out of 10 points in the water efficiency category through efficient irrigation systems and innovative wastewater management solutions. These strategies contributed positively to both the environment and operational costs.
Energy Efficiency
Optimized energy performance and advanced energy monitoring systems helped the project earn 11 out of 35 points in the energy and atmosphere category. These strategies reduced energy consumption and minimized the factory’s carbon footprint.
Materials and Resource Management
The use of recycled and locally sourced materials, combined with effective construction waste management, earned the project 6 out of 14 points in this category, enhancing its status as an environmentally friendly manufacturing facility.
Indoor Environmental Quality
The project achieved 9 out of 15 points in indoor environmental quality by incorporating low-emission materials and thermal comfort applications. These measures ensured a healthy and comfortable working environment for employees.
Innovation and Regional Priority Credits
The project earned full points in both the innovation category (6 points) and regional priority credits (4 points) by implementing solutions that aligned with the environmental goals of the region.
