Kızılay Malatya Factory Achieves LEED BD+C Silver Certification with ERKE’s Consultancy

As ERKE Design, we once again demonstrated our expertise in sustainability through the Kızılay Malatya Factory project. The project earned LEED BD+C: New Construction (v4) Silver Certification with a total of 51 points. Our work on environmentally friendly design, water and energy efficiency, and resource optimization significantly reduced environmental impacts while helping establish a sustainable operational structure.

Success Across LEED Categories

With a total of 51 points, the project successfully met the requirements for Silver Certification. Below are the key highlights from the major LEED categories:

1. Sustainable Sites (7/10 Points):

  • Achievements include stormwater management (3/3), heat island reduction (2/2), and light pollution reduction (1/1), earning full points for these credits. These strategies emphasized environmental responsibility and reduced site-related impacts.

2. Water Efficiency (8/11 Points):
The project demonstrated strong performance in water management, achieving 8 points. Significant results were obtained in:

  • Indoor Water Use Reduction (5/6)
  • Outdoor Water Use Reduction (2/2).
    These measures delivered meaningful water savings and resource conservation.

3. Energy and Atmosphere (9/53 Points):
Efforts to improve energy efficiency earned 9 points. The project made strides in the Optimize Energy Performance credit, achieving 7/18 points, marking a critical step toward energy savings and operational efficiency.

4. Materials and Resources (6/13 Points):
The project optimized resource use through:

  • Building Life Cycle Impact Reduction (3/5)
  • Construction Waste Management (2/2).
    These measures minimized waste and emphasized the use of sustainable materials.

5. Indoor Environmental Quality (7/16 Points):
Enhancements to indoor air quality and comfort earned 7 points, with full marks in:

  • Enhanced IAQ Strategies (2/2)
  • Interior Lighting (2/2).
    These improvements created a healthier and more productive environment for occupants.

6. Innovation (4/6 Points):
The project implemented innovative solutions to achieve 4 points, reflecting our creative approach to sustainability.

7. Location and Transportation (5/20 Points):
Sustainable transportation solutions were prioritized, earning 5 points. Key contributions included:

  • Access to Quality Transit (2/5)
  • Green Vehicle Infrastructure (1/1).
