Hilltown Office, developed in line with sustainable design principles in Istanbul, was awarded LEED BD+C: Core and Shell Gold Certification in 2012. Through ERKE’s consultancy, the project achieved significant progress in energy efficiency, water conservation, and indoor environmental quality, minimizing environmental impacts. Earning 66 points, this project stands as a remarkable success in achieving sustainability goals.

Sustainable Site Development and Water Efficiency

The project earned 22/28 points in the Sustainable Sites category, demonstrating strong environmental responsibility:

• Access to Public Transportation (6/6): The office building’s proximity to public transportation encouraged users to adopt eco-friendly commuting methods.
• Bicycle-Friendly Approach (2/2): Infrastructure such as bicycle parking spaces and changing rooms supported sustainable transportation.

In the Water Efficiency category, 8/10 points were achieved, reflecting innovative water management solutions:

• Reduction of Water Usage (4/4): Efficient fixtures and systems optimized water consumption.
• Wastewater Technologies (2/2): Systems for wastewater reuse were implemented to support water conservation.

Energy Efficiency and Indoor Environmental Quality

Hilltown Office earned 15/37 points in the Energy and Atmosphere category, successfully achieving its energy efficiency targets:

• Optimization of Energy Performance (7/21): Optimized systems were utilized to reduce energy consumption.
• Enhanced Refrigerant Management (2/2): Eco-friendly refrigerant systems were selected to minimize environmental impact.

In the Indoor Environmental Quality category, 8/12 points were earned, focusing on occupant health and comfort:

• Low-Emitting Materials (4/4): Environmentally friendly products were chosen for adhesives, paints, and coatings.
• Thermal Comfort (2/2): Advanced HVAC systems ensured improved thermal comfort within the building.
