Success Achieved Through ERKE’s LEED Consultancy

The Intertech Building, designed in accordance with sustainability principles in Gaziantep, was awarded LEED BD+C: Core and Shell Gold Certification in 2016. Through ERKE’s consultancy, the project achieved significant progress in energy efficiency, water conservation, and indoor environmental quality, helping meet environmental responsibility goals. Earning 63 points, the building serves as an exemplary model for environmental sustainability.

Outstanding Performance in Water and Energy Efficiency

The project excelled in the Water Efficiency category, earning a perfect 10/10 points:

  • Reduction of Water Usage (4/4): Efficient water fixtures and systems optimized water consumption.
  • Water-Efficient Landscaping (4/4): Innovative irrigation technologies enhanced water savings.
  • Wastewater Technologies (2/2): Systems enabling wastewater reuse were integrated.

In the Energy and Atmosphere category, the project earned 14/37 points:

  • Optimization of Energy Performance (9/21): Efficient systems were utilized to reduce energy consumption.
  • Enhanced Refrigerant Management (2/2): Eco-friendly refrigerant systems were chosen to minimize carbon emissions.
  • Measurement and Verification (3/3): Systems were implemented to monitor and verify energy consumption.

Sustainable Material Use and Indoor Environmental Quality

The project earned 6/13 points in the Materials and Resources category:

  • Recycled Materials (2/2): Building materials containing recycled content were prioritized.
  • Local Material Use (2/2): Materials sourced regionally reduced the environmental footprint.
  • Construction Waste Management (2/2): Effective waste management practices were applied during construction.

In the Indoor Environmental Quality category, 7/12 points highlighted the focus on occupant comfort and health:

  • Thermal Comfort (2/2): Climate control systems ensured thermal balance within the building.
  • Low-Emitting Materials (2/2): Environmentally friendly paints and adhesives were used.
  • Controllable Lighting (1/1): User-friendly lighting systems were implemented to enhance comfort.
