As ERKE, we are proud to have provided LEED Consultancy for the Torun Tower project, located in Istanbul, enabling the building to achieve LEED BD+C: Core and Shell (v2009) Gold Certification. Recognized with this prestigious award in July 2014, the project stands out for its high standards in sustainable architecture and environmental responsibility.
Achieving 64 points in total to secure Gold level certification, Torun Tower demonstrated exceptional performance particularly in the categories of Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, and Energy & Atmosphere. This project contributes to both regional and global sustainability goals with its eco-friendly solutions and innovative practices.
Highlights of LEED Category Achievements
1. Sustainable Sites
Torun Tower earned 20 out of 28 points in the Sustainable Sites category, showcasing its commitment to environmental responsibility through infrastructure focused on public transportation access and low-emission mobility solutions. Full points were achieved in the Public Transportation Access credits, encouraging employees and visitors to opt for sustainable transportation methods.
2. Water Efficiency
The project demonstrated outstanding performance in the Water Efficiency category, securing 8 out of 10 points. Full points were obtained in the Water Use Reduction and Innovative Wastewater Technologies credits, with systems implemented to minimize water consumption. These measures play a significant role in conserving water resources.
3. Energy & Atmosphere
Torun Tower delivered strong results in energy management, earning 17 out of 37 points in the Energy & Atmosphere category. In the Optimize Energy Performance credit, 11 out of 21 points were achieved, prioritizing energy efficiency. Additionally, energy measurement and verification systems were employed to monitor and optimize energy consumption effectively.
4. Materials & Resources
The building focused on the use of recycled and regional materials, earning 6 out of 13 points in the Materials & Resources category. Full points were achieved in the Recycled Content and Regional Materials credits, contributing to reducing the environmental impacts of the construction process.
5. Innovation and Regional Priority Credits
The project developed innovative designs and solutions that addressed regional priorities. It earned 4 out of 6 points in the Innovation category and a full 4 out of 4 points in the Regional Priority category. These achievements highlight Torun Tower’s commitment to environmental and social awareness.
