Through our LEED consultancy, Cihangir College Bahçeşehir Campus successfully achieved LEED BD+C: Schools (v2009) Certified Certification. This achievement, obtained in March 2015, underscores the importance of sustainability and environmental responsibility in educational buildings.
The project earned a total of 45 points, reaching the Certified level. It particularly excelled in the Water Efficiency, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Materials & Resources categories. This project serves as a strong example of a school design aimed at reducing environmental impact.
The campus demonstrated exceptional performance in the Water Efficiency category, scoring 10 out of 11 points. Full points were earned in Water Efficient Landscaping, Innovative Wastewater Technologies, and Water Use Reduction credits. These systems not only conserved water but also reduced environmental impacts and achieved cost efficiency.
Success in the Recycled Content and Regional Materials credits played a significant role in achieving the project’s sustainability goals. Scoring 7 out of 13 points in this category, the project minimized the environmental impact of construction materials. The use of recycled and locally sourced materials further reduced the project’s carbon footprint.
Indoor air quality is crucial for educational buildings. The project achieved full points in Low-Emitting Materials and Construction IAQ Management Plan credits, ensuring a healthy environment for students and staff. Additionally, the design’s focus on natural light earned success in the Daylight and Views credits.
With proximity to public transportation and infrastructure supporting low-emission vehicles, the campus earned high scores in the Alternative Transportation category. This approach not only reduced the campus’s environmental impact but also provided easy access for students.
Cihangir College Bahçeşehir Campus stands out as a noteworthy project with its eco-friendly school design, earning LEED Certified Certification.
